WebCE’s Marketing and Product Teams Hit Sky-High Production Goals with Vyond

A cross-team approach to video creates a competitive advantage

Challenge

Recently, company leadership at WebCE, a leading online education vendor, challenged its content-focused teams to help boost awareness of the wide range of educational content the company can create for its clients — including video training.

For the company’s instructional design group, the obvious raw material to work with was its library of long-form (150+ pages) course curriculum documents. 

Approach

First, on the product team, Design Services Supervisor Craig Hausmann and his team worked with subject-matter experts to identify segments of the curriculum for video transformation; then they wrote the scripts. After that, the video creation process is extremely fast. “Each video is done same-day. We’re a rapid-fire development company, and I’m always proud of that when we show off what we can do,” says Craig.

When Stacey Cessna, WebCE’s Director of Marketing, and Meg Aderholt, Marketing Media Specialist, saw what the Design Services team was doing with Vyond, they realized their team could also benefit by using Vyond to convert those training videos into bite-sized social media videos. So they added a seat for Marketing — and began publishing clips on WebCE’s YouTube channel, within blog posts, and on LinkedIn, where their content saw great engagement. 

“Sharing our Vyond content across multiple channels keeps our brand in front of our audiences and helps us come across as the friendly, fun, and informative partners we want to be,” says Stacey. “Plus, it lets our audiences get a preview of our course experience.”

How Vyond Helped

Craig says Vyond has been key to WebCE’s high-volume, high-quality training course production. “For us, it’s always been about templatizing content, reusing characters, reusing scenes,” he says.

And, from a marketing perspective, Meg says that Vyond makes it a lot easier to take bigger content, chop it up, and recycle it in multiple different places. “I think that’s unique to Vyond video creation,” she says. “It’d be much more difficult if we were doing live action videos.”

Both teams say this Content Services and Marketing cross-team partnership is one of many examples of WebCE’s collaborative culture. 

“Wherever we can share resources and leverage each other’s expertise for stronger results, like in this case,” says Stacey, “we’re going to do it.”
